My current work focuses the molecular epidemiology of Streptococcus pyogenes associated with non-invasive infection. I am interested in the clonal composition of the population of S. pyogenes isolated in Portuguese Hospitals, giving special attention to the macrolide-resistant strains, since antimicrobial resistance is a problem of major concern.
