+ | My current work focuses the molecular epidemiology of //Streptococcus pneumoniae// associated with invasive and non-invasive infection. I am particularly interested in the clonal composition of the population of //S. pneumoniae// isolated in children , with special attention to the invasive infections, and to evaluate the impact of the use of pneumococcal conjugate vaccines in the serotype distribution and epidemiology of this important pathogen. I am also involved on the molecular diagnosis of complicated pneumonias, also in children, mainly caused by //S. pneumoniae//. | ||
